About the Company

We’re storytellers. With a combined 50+ years of writing and editing fiction, telling stories is just what we do. We’re also marketers, with decades of experience working with industry leaders like HubSpot, Marketing Initiative Worx, Plan Left, and many more. That expertise, paired with our love for a good tale, makes us the perfect choice to tell your brand story.

Our writers specialize in content creation of all types for a wide range of industries, including – but never limited to – marketing and branding, real estate and investing, healthcare, information technology, music and entertainment, innovation consulting, tourism, home improvement, start-up culture, and, of course, writing and editing.

We spend time with our clients’ buyer personas until they feel like old friends. Then, we develop a content strategy that soothes their every pain point. Through blogs, website content, ebooks, white papers—anything conveyed through the written word—we teach those buyers exactly why they can’t live without the products or services our clients sell. Even better, we help those clients foster great relationships with their customers. Relationships based on trust instead of high-pressure sales pitches. It’s a beautiful thing.

The Team

Jennifer Barry – Owner

Jen once used opera performance as her creative outlet, but now she prefers something a little more low key…actually, anonymous if at all possible. She started writing fiction fifteen years ago and then fell into a job with a content mill. You remember content mills: They were those places that cranked out thousands of words every day, none of which took the buyer’s needs in mind. Still, it got her foot in the door with a marketing agency in Nashville, where she met her mentor, HubSpot alum Sam Mallikarjunan.

Now, after fourteen years of content marketing, writing books, and helping other writers get published, she’s ready to take on the world. Secretly, of course, because that’s the whole point of a ghostwriter.

Allie Gann – Accounts Director

Allie Gann has been a part of Little Red Writing since the beginning as a brand storyteller, but now she’s excited to flex her customer service muscles in accounts management. Allie has been telling stories since she was a toddler. Her parents called them fibs, but she begs to differ. She learned the writing trade at a content mill and then spent some time as a freelance content manager for a Nashville marketing agency, where she learned to combine her love for storytelling—real stories, not fibs—with her love for marketing. She’s a small-town girl at heart, mom to a whip-smart son in his twenties and a daughter in third grade (who also likes to tell “stories”), and a cheese lover. Also, she’s going to conquer Photoshop one day; she can feel it.

Tracy Slonaker – Brand Storyteller

What else is there for a runner to do during a workout than to dream of new novel plots? That’s what started this Philadelphia area native (Go Eagles!) started on a life of writing. When this elementary school teacher is not watching sports or playing games herself, she loves to do (or correct) any other writing she can.

Tracy came to Little Red Writing when invited by Jen, who edited her first novel, to try something new. Writing content has opened many new doors and stretched her thinking skills—something her students and family have enjoyed toying with.

Ember Brummitt – Brand Storyteller

Ember is a senior in college performing a balancing act not unlike that of a circus. On top of a full course load, she is also working as an editor of her campus newspaper, a public relations officer for an emergency medicine club, an accounts manager for the National Student Advertising Competition, and of course, for Little Red Writing.

Even though she’s kind of crazy for doing all that, Ember has a passion for communicating ideas and creating quality content. As someone who has worked for two different newspapers, Ember loves writing educational material that is easily accessible to all. You can also catch her snapping pics with her 11-year-old Nikon camera, skating around her small town, or planning road trips.

Natalie Lewis – Brand Storyteller

Natalie Lewis is a Nashville native or, as some might say, a unicorn. You may find Natalie in any of the following scenarios: reading too many books, performing onstage at various community theaters in Nashville, singing show tunes on karaoke machines, cooking up a plethora of snacks, chowing on hot wings, and spending time with the boys that she loves the most…her husband and sons.

As for writing, Natalie has been cranking out stories since her elementary school days. She happened upon Little Red Writing after hearing that Jen needed writers and thought, “Hey! I like writing!” The rest is history. One day she hopes to publish her own novels, though probably not the ones she wrote about cats when she was in the fourth grade…but who knows? In the meantime, she loves her team at Little Red Writing and is having a blast creating content for clients.

Mollie Smith – Social Storyteller

Mollie is a college student navigating the trials of adult life (trying to, at least) while studying Interior Architecture and minoring in Leadership Studies. Mollie loves combining different aspects of both through social media to discover what piques people’s interest, visually and through words.

When she’s offline, Mollie loves playing piano, hanging out with friends, cuddling her two fur babies (Brooklyn and Thor), cooking, and planning her next travel adventure.
Kristen Milton – Visual Storyteller

The stars aligned when Kristen joined the Little Red Writing team to follow her passion as a graphic designer. Our Accounts Director and Kristen once worked together, so when Little Red Writing needed a graphic designer, Allie knew just who to call. Kristen brings a Bachelor’s Degree in Art and four years of design experience to help us tell brand stories through imagery. Currently residing in Knoxville with her husband Stephen and cat LuLu, Kristen strives to one day illustrate children’s books. You can find her reading, crocheting, or board gaming when she’s not working on her art.

Katie McGrath – Operations

Katie obtained her Bachelor of Business Studies with an emphasis in marketing in Ireland and spent over a decade working on staff with some of Ireland’s biggest brands. After a brain tumor scare, she had to back away from the workforce for a while. She’s thrilled that her first foray back into marketing is with Little Red Writing, on a volunteer basis. She’s the mom to an infant boy and author of a memoir about her terrifying experience with a brain tumor. Any free time she has is spent traveling for weekend trips with her husband and best friend, Dishy Donal.

Testimonials

Jennifer is simply fantastic. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and content creation and creativity is exceptional. She listens, does her homework, and always delivers.  She is a vital part of our team.

Liz Papagni, CEO of Marketing Initiative Worx

Jennifer has an extremely rare set of skills. I’ve hired and worked with many writers over time, and have rarely come across someone with her abilities. During our years of working together, she has successfully written for a wide range of industries with an even wider range of buyer personas. Her ability to create content for MIT professors and then switch to real estate and then straight into ecommerce marketing is astounding.

Sam Mallikarjunan, HubSpot Fellow and Harvard Continuing Education Instructor

A writer with complete understanding of the importance of brand personality, knowledge of the product, and the importance of targeting an audience is hard to find.  The women at Little Red Writing have never let me down.  Across multiple fields, with varied audiences, and working on many types of projects (blogs and white papers to full scale brand guides) I am never less than impressed with the attention to detail and consistent 110% delivery.  Highly recommended, highly regarded and always trusted.

Joshua Smith, True Source Entertainment, Founder

Working with Jen has been wonderful.  She is by far the best copywriter IPVision has contracted with. She quickly grasps complicated subject matters, she researches to discover relevant topics, and she is constantly over delivering in a timely manner. I wholeheartedly recommend her services, and IPVision plans to work with her for the long term.

Joe Khurana, Vice President, Business Development, IPVision, Inc.

What an incredible experience! Jennifer is so organized and a wealth of information. I don’t think I could have launched my book without her. Jennifer provided support and guidance way above and beyond what I ever expected! She is a very talented writer and full of energy. She made a very scary and overwhelming process of getting my book to the public a very easy and fun experience. Thank you, Jennifer. I cannot wait until the next book!

Karen Gwartzman, Author and Owner of Private Label University

Working with Jen was the easiest part about writing a book! I appreciated her responsiveness, experienced feedback and guidance. Her calm, smart approach allowed me to stay on schedule with a much better product. I couldn’t imagine the output without her assistance.

Laurą Leszczynski, Co-author of Clubology: The Science and Strategy of Being in the People Business

Jen is a valuable contributor to the IPVision team.  She is constantly learning and coming up with better, more relevant ways to produce content that our clients appreciate.  Her expertise in digital marketing in addition to content production makes her invaluable to our organization and I believe for many others.

Joseph Hadzima, Esq., President and Cofounder, IPVision, Inc.

Since we started with Little Red Writing in August 2021, Allie has been so wonderful to work with. She responds quickly, stays on track with our schedule, and takes into account all of my requests and suggestions. She gives me friendly reminders when I need an extra nudge to get her information. I couldn’t ask for a better partnership for our social media and blog article posts! She’s helped our company stay on track and published online so we can focus on our other tasks. We appreciate her so much!
