We’re storytellers. With a combined 50+ years of writing and editing fiction, telling stories is just what we do. We’re also marketers, with decades of experience working with industry leaders like HubSpot, Marketing Initiative Worx, Plan Left, and many more. That expertise, paired with our love for a good tale, makes us the perfect choice to tell your brand story.

Our writers specialize in content creation of all types for a wide range of industries, including – but never limited to – marketing and branding, real estate and investing, healthcare, information technology, music and entertainment, innovation consulting, tourism, home improvement, start-up culture, and, of course, writing and editing.

We spend time with our clients’ buyer personas until they feel like old friends. Then, we develop a content strategy that soothes their every pain point. Through blogs, website content, ebooks, white papers—anything conveyed through the written word—we teach those buyers exactly why they can’t live without the products or services our clients sell. Even better, we help those clients foster great relationships with their customers. Relationships based on trust instead of high-pressure sales pitches. It’s a beautiful thing.

The Team

Jennifer Barry – Owner

Jen once used opera performance as her creative outlet, but now she prefers something a little more low key…actually, anonymous if at all possible. She started writing fiction ten years ago and then fell into a job with a content mill. You remember content mills: They were those places that cranked out thousands of words every day, none of which took the buyer’s needs in mind. Still, it got her foot in the door with a marketing agency in Nashville, where she met her mentor, HubSpot Fellow Sam Mallikarjunan.

Now, after ten years of content marketing, writing books, and helping other writers get published, she’s ready to take on the world. Secretly, of course, because that’s the whole point of a ghostwriter.

Meredith Bell  Master Storyteller

Meredith is a bibliophile, oenophile, turophile, and cinephile. (And obviously a fan of the Oxford comma.) A reader since age 3, she will peruse the back of the cereal box if nothing else is handy. Meredith believes her love of words, along with having an Oxford-educated English teacher for a Mother, inspired her to choose writing as a career from an early age.

After spending 20+ years in the corporate world, Meredith joined our team to focus on her first love of story-telling. She brings substantial strategic account management, product development, executive communications support and global experience to our team.

Here are a few of her favorite things: strategic marketing, advertising, writing content that people actually read, public speaking, project development, public relations, research, speech-writing, and video production.

When Meredith isn’t working, she’s trying to make life interesting for her daughter Kennedy. She likes to cook, eat, travel, bike, and read. She’s a live music junkie and goes to the Ryman, City Winery, Station Inn, and the Bluebird Cafe any chance she gets.

Allie Gann – Brand Storyteller

Allie has been telling stories since she was a toddler. Her parents called them fibs, but she begs to differ. She learned the writing trade at a content mill and then spent some time as a freelance content manager for a Nashville marketing agency, where she learned to combine her love for storytelling—real stories, not fibs—with her newfound love for marketing.

She’s a small-town girl at heart, mom to a whip-smart teenager and a toddler (who also likes to tell “stories”), and a cheese lover. Also, she’s going to conquer Photoshop one day; she can feel it.

Tiff Nichols  Brand Storyteller

Tiffany has been a lover of words since before she could even read. As a very young child she would scribble loopy lines on paper (insisting it was cursive writing) and then “read” her stories to any family members who would listen. Once she actually learned to read and write, there was no stopping her.

Tiffany stumbled into content marketing when she worked with Jen in a content mill. Having learned more about actual content marketing, she’s been crafting original content for various clients for the past seven years. When she’s not typing away on her laptop, Tiffany’s usually playing hurling, watching Turner Classic Movies, or traveling to Disney World and beyond with her husband Will and precious baby girl Annabelle.

Tracy Slonaker – Brand Storyteller

What else is there for a runner to do during a workout than to dream of new novel plots? That’s what started this Philadelphia area native (Go Eagles!) started on a life of writing. When this elementary school teacher is not watching sports or playing games herself, she loves to do (or correct) any other writing she can.

Tracy came to Little Red Writing when invited by Jen, who edited her first novel, to try something new. Writing content has opened many new doors and stretched her thinking skills–something her students and family have enjoyed toying with.

Isaac Gann – Generation Z Storyteller

Sure, Isaac’s still a teenager in years, but never in spirit. As an old soul, he’s been fond of all things creative since he first opened his eyes. He brings to Little Red Writing a distinct Generation Z voice, perfect for brands with younger audiences. When he’s not in class, he’s probably playing the snare in marching band, planning out a romantic date with his girlfriend, or sharing selfies on Snapchat.

Katie Marcario – Social Storyteller

Katie came to Little Red Writing by exclusive invitation from Jen herself. She has over 5 years of experience working with clients in music, non-profit, business and professional networking groups, transportation, education, and many other industries. She has a knack for identifying brand voices and would love to help you find yours. You can usually find Katie at a show or brewery, or at her personal favorite place: her house.

Katie McGrath – Operations

Katie obtained her Bachelor of Business Studies with an emphasis in marketing in Ireland and spent over a decade working on staff with some of Ireland’s biggest brands. After a brain tumor scare, she had to back away from the workforce for a while. She’s thrilled that her first foray back into marketing is with Little Red Writing, on a volunteer basis. When she’s not helping LRW, she’s caring for her adorable nephews, writing a memoir about her terrifying experience with a brain tumor, or traveling for weekend trips with her husband and best friend, Dishy Donal.

Jacob Wilder – Project Manager and Apprentice Marketer

Jacob Wilder has lots of different tastes in everything from music, TV, food, books, sports, travel, and movies. He likes Star Wars and The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. He listens to Chance the Rapper and then Waylon Jennings. He likes NFL football, but can get worked up over a championship game of cornhole. Sushi or chimichangas? But one thing that Jacob likes is a good story.

Jacob is a student at Middle Tennessee State University who is currently pursuing a multimedia journalism degree. He found that the life of a reporter was not for him, but instead finds himself more at home helping people and telling stories. A certified diver and former sports writer, Jacob began interning here last summer hoping to turn his internship into a career of public relations/marketing. Jacob completed his summer internship, but he doesn’t want to leave.  Jacob fell for the PR/marketing field and will continue to tell stories with the rest of the Little Red Writing crew. When Jacob isn’t working or studying, he might be hanging with his family, adventuring with his fabulous girlfriend Shelley, hunting, fishing, watching a Steelers game, or he might just be taking an impromptu nap.
